Rosh HaShanah is the Jewish New Year and will be celebrated on September 4, 2013. It precedes Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, in the Jewish Tishreh. Rosh HaShanah is the first of the two Jewish high holy days, called, the Days of Awe. Yom Kippur is the most holy day of the Jewish year. The sacredness of Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur are roughly equivalent to the importance of Easter in the Christian Gregorian calendar.
