Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican festival celebrated on May 5. Ironically, my Latino friends say, they don't observe it in Mexico outside Puebla. It commemorates the Battle of Puebla, not the Mexican Independence Day. It's easy to assume "fifth of May, fourth of July, same thing." It's primarily an American-Mexican festival.
