What a winter 2014 has been. Valentine's Day, Easter far away--not much for parents to look forward to, party-wise. But don't worry you parents of bored kids, teacher-mama has a plan (did you ever know me not to?) Winnie-the-Pooh (that wise old bear) said that any day is good day for a party. So he wished friends "happy Windsday" (not Wednesday as it was windy). And I thought, yeah, who needs a holiday for a party? Why not have a just-because party? For preschoolers, might I suggest a book theme? Here's a little at-home party plan you can do with one toddler or many children. I became hopeless addicted to Phryne Fisher, the saucy, sensitive, savvy Jazz Age Aussie lady detective of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. She's part tart, part humanitarian, part intelligentsia, all tough cookie. Tres elegante! I devoured the first season after some kind soul added it to youtube (or maybe Netflix). Once hooked, I need more. And alas, Season 2 is only available on ABC iView for Australian viewers.
